Te Wiki o te Reo Māori is a valuable opportunity to celebrate te reo Māori and help students discover books that reflect the language, stories, people and experiences of Aotearoa.
ePlatform includes a curated Māori category that schools can use to create an automatic homepage compilation. Once created, the compilation will display relevant eBooks and Audiobooks available through your library and will update automatically as new titles are added to the category.
Create a Te Wiki o te Reo Māori Compilation for Your Homepage
Make it easier for students to discover relevant books by creating a dedicated Māori compilation for your ePlatform homepage.
-
From your ePlatform Admin area, open Library Homepage and Compilations.
-
Select Add Compilation, then choose Auto Selection.
-
Tick the box beside Category.
-
Select Add, then open the category selector.
-
Open Our Curated Collections, then select Maori.
-
Save the compilation and choose where it should appear on your homepage. You can drag and drop your compilations to reorder them and place the Māori collection in a prominent position.
Why Use an Automatic Compilation?
An automatic compilation saves you from having to search for and select titles individually. It uses the curated Māori category to display relevant books already available through your school’s ePlatform collection.
As new eligible titles become available, they can be added to the curated category and appear in the compilation automatically. This helps keep your homepage current without requiring schools to rebuild the compilation each year.
Make the Compilation Easy to Find
Once the compilation has been created, consider placing it near the top of your homepage during Te Wiki o te Reo Māori so it is easy for students and teachers to discover.
You could also:
-
Share a direct link to your ePlatform homepage in school newsletters and learning platforms.
-
Highlight the compilation during library lessons or classroom activities.
-
Promote selected books through displays, announcements or school communications.
-
Encourage teachers to use the collection when planning activities for Te Wiki o te Reo Māori.
Keep the Collection Visible Throughout the Year
Te Wiki o te Reo Māori provides a timely reason to highlight these books, but the compilation does not need to be removed when the week ends.
Consider keeping the Māori compilation on your homepage throughout the year to support ongoing discovery of te reo Māori, Māori stories and books connected with the culture, history and experiences of Aotearoa.
